As a member in PI North America, you are encouraged to take advantage of the services we provide. This is not an exhaustive list so if you have a request or requirement not shown below, please contact us -we are here to serve you.

Logos

Use of the registered, trademarked PROFIBUS and PROFINET logos and PI North America logo is restricted to members of PROFIBUS & PROFINET International. As a member, you can use these logos as part of the marketing of your products or simply to display your support of PROFIBUS and PROFINET technologies.

Specifications

The PROFIBUS and PROFINET specifications are standardized under IEC. As they are open standards, anyone may acquire them from the IEC webstore for a fee. Members in PI North America are given access to the specifications without charge via download on the PROFIBUS & PROFINET International website.

Documentation

PROFIBUS & PROFINET International provides standards, guidelines, and other technical literature, some of which is publicly available. Membership in PI North America grants access to all material, free of charge. Upon joining, members are issued a company-wide login with rights to these downloads.

Software & Tools

PROFIBUS & PROFINET International provides software and tools to aid in the product development process. These tools help hasten the integration of the PROFIBUS and PROFINET protocols into new devices. Membership in PI North America grants access to all software, free of charge.

Patents

Certain patents exist relating to PI's technologies. Rights to these are granted to all members of PROFIBUS & PROFINET International. Membership in PI North America, as a Regional PI Association (RPA) under PI, meets this qualification. Non-members shall negotiate usage of these patents on their own.

IO-Link & omlox

Besides the well known PROFIBUS and PROFINET standards, other technologies falling under the PI umbrella include the open IO-Link and omlox standards. Membership in PI North America includes membership in the IO-Link community and the omlox community.

Certification

We aggressively support members in the certification process for PROFIBUS and PROFINET products.  As a member, you will receive a reduced fee for Ident Number assignment for PROFIBUS devices and certification fees here are waived completely. For PROFINET, certification fees are significantly reduced for members.

Products

The Product Finder on the PROFIBUS & PROFINET International website is a central repository where end-users search for PROFIBUS and PROFINET enabled products. Member-company listings may include each of their products' names, types, technical descriptions, and ordering information.

Profinews

PROFINEWS is the primary destination for the latest news, products, and events related to PROFIBUS and PROFINET. Should you desire to submit a new product release, company announcement, training event, or design win story, we will gladly include these. PROFINEWS gets distributed monthly to tens of thousands of recipients as an e-newsletter and is available as a mobile app as well.

Marketing

The hallmark program from PI North America is its series of technical trainings presented around the USA throughout the year. These events offer PI North America member companies the opportunity to exhibit their products to the hundreds of attendees that attend these free one-day seminars.

Advertising

Advertising space on every page of us.profinet.com is available for PI North America members. You can display your logo prominently and/or promote a specific facet of your business with a banner ad.

Training

Certified Training classes for PROFIBUS and PROFINET are offered at different intervals throughout the year as multi-day courses. Upon completion, students who pass the theoretical and practical tests are officially listed on the PROFIBUS & PROFINET International website as a Certified Engineer. Students from member companies receive a discount on the costs which applies for each individual taking the class.

Tech Support

PI North America members are entitled to free hotline technical support from the PROFI Interface Center (PIC).

General Assembly Meeting

The biennial General Assembly Meeting is a non-competitive, open forum for PI North America members only.  This event brings members together to network and discuss the PROFIBUS and PROFINET marketplaces and get a better understanding of PI North America’s market focus. Representatives from various industries are on hand to discuss their latest PROFIBUS and PROFINET implementations. Key technical personnel provide updates on the latest developments in the technologies and are available to answer technical questions. All members are invited to participate in the presentations and strategy sessions.
