PROFIBUS Interconnection Technology

This document specifies the electromechanical components for RS485, Fiber Optic and IEC 61158-2 transmission technology. This guideline is intended primarily for manufacturers of PROFIBUS field devices and manufacturers of connectors. The objective of this guideline is to limit the variety of methods utilized in PROFIBUS connections. Connectors for the connection of PROFIBUS field devices are to be preferred to other connection methods because of the advantages for servicing, commissioning and testing.
