NEWBURYPORT, MA– Softing, the world-leading company in providing comprehensive network diagnostic tools, has announced the availability of a new software version of its innovative PROFIBUS Diagnostics Suite. The latest update includes novel diagnostic features to execute extensive tests on a PROFIBUS network. The PROFIBUS Tester 4 is able to simultaneously analyze the electrical signals and the data communication on an operating network eliminating the need for multiple components. In addition, the intuitive user-interface of the unit is designed to guide a novice down the correct path to solving a network problem.
The instrument is galvanically isolated to prevent problems where two or more electric circuits communicate, but their grounds may be at different potentials. Without galvanic isolation a tester could introduce noise to the cable under test masking the actual cause of a network fault. It is an effective method of breaking ground loops by preventing unwanted current from flowing between two units sharing a ground conductor.
Companies like Husky Injection Molding, Robert Bosch, and BMW rely on this tester from the commissioning to the maintenance phase of their automation networks. Today, many companies are replacing their existing set of diagnostic instruments and standardize on Softing’s state-of-the-art tool.
