Hanover Fair Preview

Remember when there were big independent shows in the US?  Shows like ISA and National Manufacturing Week? Hanover Fair (April 25-29) in Germany makes them look tiny.  Hanover Fair is big, although not as big as in years gone by.  You’re probably not going to Hanover Fair, but you can visit vicariously through live Tweets from @AllThingsPROFI.  And reports here on the PROFIblog and in PROFINEWS after the Fair. I’ve been to countless ISA and National Manufacturing Week shows over the years as well as shows in Germany (Interkama when it was independent, Hanover, and SPS/IPC/Drives). So expect some comparisons (and some contrasts).

I’ll be there covering all things PROFI, including the PI booth and PI North America members’ booths.  But not President Obama’s speech at the opening ceremony.  That event is invitation-only and my invitation must have gotten lost in the mail.  He is supposed to tour Hall 9 where the PI booth is located though so there might be a sighting.

The PI Booth will feature lots of PROFINET, PROFIBUS, PROFIsafe, and IO-Link.  And a lounge area for refreshments.  Yes, that includes beer in the afternoon.  Didn’t have that at ISA or NMW, did we?

For a more formal preview of the PI Booth, check the PROFINEWS article.

USA_Meeting_PointI hope to accompany you through the fair through Tweets or, if you are coming to the Fair, stop by in person at the PI Booth (Hall 9, Booth D68).  The booth is big, but I’ll be hanging out at our special USA Meeting Point in the booth along with members of PI North America.
