At the recent PROFINET one-day training event in Detroit I had an interesting side conversation with an IT guy about the IT challenges in adopting Industrial Ethernet, especially when the plant is unionized. I pointed him to the Industrial Ethernet Book how-to-get-along article: “The great IT divide: good intentions separated by common objectives.”
Now the Industrial Ethernet Book has presented a webinar that serves as a primer for each group (Control Engineering and IT) to understand their differences and commonalities. It was presented by PTO member Schneider Electric. I got up early to tune in at 7:00am Arizona time, but you can choose your own time and view the archive here shortly. Of course, our own webinars cover some of those same topics (start here), but the IEB webinar is a good starting point.
